I have a free web hosting domain with the link xxxxx.000webhostapp.com and I need an account to send emails, can I use the PHP mail function with the sender being “yyyyy@xxxxx.000webhostapp.com”?

However you cannot receive emails to yyyyy@xxxxx.000webhostapp.com. You’ll need a paid plan inbox for that.
No even with a paid plan you cannot get emails to any 000webhostapp.com email.
It would be your own domain like smallgrains.com - webmaster@smallgrains.com etc
